ExperienceI have tutored all throughout high school and college. In high school, I tutored math and reading for two girls that had severe dyslexia. In college, I worked at an after-school center in Staten Island for children in the community and ran programs focused on homework help, arts and crafts, and dance at the after-school center. A lot of my experience has been focused on working with children with behavioral problems. I have a lot of patience and work very well with children who tend to be disruptive. I love tutoring because I feel that it is a great way to work with children and impact their lives.
My areas of specialty are reading and math. I am able to teach the piano, flute, art (pencil, watercolor, oil painting), and I am fluent in conversational Mandarin.
HobbiesI am very passionate about helping others. My career goals are geared towards working in the non-profit sector. I have always felt strongly about social justice, and hope that I can impact some change in the world through my work. I am working towards being TEFL certified because I want to teach English abroad for a couple of years after I graduate college.
I am very bubbly and personable, and work very well with kids. I tend to be very relaxed in the way I interact with people, but I am also very firm when it comes to getting work done. I believe that there needs to be a balance between working and enjoying oneself (from personal experience as I was sent to many tutors as a child). I am very fun and creative and love art, food, traveling, going on adventures and exploring new places, and meeting new people.
I am joining the Peace Corps in September and will be moving to Fiji!
